PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL SEMINAR ON

"National Seminar on Theorizing Comparative Literature and Making a Comparative Study of British and Indian Critics on Indian English Literature"

At the outset, Prof. Bijay Kumar Das, the president of the Researchers' Association accorded a warm welcome to the delegates and wished them a happy new year. Well known writer of Science, Prof. Debakanta Mishra inaugurated the Seminar by Lighting the Lamp. Dr. Premalata Rout introduced the Guests. Mr. Braja KishorePll, read out the proceedings of the last seminar held on 8 October 2022. Professor Debakanta Mishra and other Guests launched " The Critical Endeavour Vol 29 Jan 2023. It contains 24 scholarly articles, one Research Note, and 5 Book Reviews. It is dedicated to the memory of Professor G.S. Balarama Gupta, the Founder, and Editor of "The Journal of Indian Writings in English". Former Vice Chancellor (Vikram Shimapuri, University, Nellore) Professor C.R. V. Rao's Response to the Journal was read out to the audience by Dr. Sonali Das, Associate Professor of English, Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, who compared the Inaugural Session.


Plenary Session


Professor Bijay Kumar Das, former Professor of English, Burdwan University, Burdwan (W.B) delivered the Plenary Lecture under the caption, "Origin, Development and Theorizing Comparative Literature in the Global Context" and his lecture has been distributed among the delegates in the form of a Booklet. Prof. Debakanta Mishra Chaired the Session.


Paper Reading Session II


Dr. Rima Ghosh, Asst. Professor of English, Swami Niswamblanda Girls' College, Hoogly, Kolkata presented a paper titled, "Sri Aurobindo as a Practitioner of Comparative Studies". Dr. Ujjwal Dutta, West Bengal Education Service] Burdwan presented a paper titled" Criticism of Nissim Ezekie's Poetry" and Mr. Braja Kishore Pall, Reader in English, Oupada College, Balasore presented a paper titled"Bijay Kumar Das on the perspectives on Nissim Ezekiel's Poetry". Dr. Sonali Das chaired the Session.


Workshop on Comparative Literature


Professor Bijay Kumar Das conducted a Workshop on Comparative Literature in the post- lunch Session. 41 questions were asked to the delegates and their Response was noted. Prof. Das made the conclusive remark.


Valedictory Session


Dr. Satya Sindhu Ghosh and Dr. Jnan Ranjan Padhi, Associate Professor of English Dera Natung Govt. College, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh spoke in the Valedictory Session. A number of participants gave their responses to the Day long Seminar..Prof. Ashok Kumar Mohanty, Chaired the Session. Dr. Pravat Kumar Mishra, former Associate Professor of English, at Niali College, Cuttack summed up the events of the Seminar and proposed a vote of thanks.


Other Highlights of the Seminar


The Book Exhibition was conducted by Dr. Pravat Kumar Mishra. The Photo Session was organised by Major Dr. Chintamani Bharati. A group Photo was taken before Lunch to the satisfaction of all the participants and Resource persons.
