PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL SEMIAR ON

"Reconfiguring Myth, Legend and Folklore in Indian Literature" and a Workshop on "Writing Research Papers, and MPhil, and Ph.D. Dissertations"

The Researchers' Association, Odisha organised a one day National Seminar on "Reconfiguring Myth, Legend and Folklore in Indian Literature" and a Workshop on "Writing Research Papers, and MPhil, and Ph.D. Dissertations" on 03 April 2022 at Hotel Akbari, Cuttack. Professor N. Nagaraju, Vice Chancellor, G. M.University, Sambalpur inaugurated the Seminar by Lighting the Lamp at 10;30 a.m in the presence of Dr. Ramesh P. Panigrahi, well known Playwright and Theatre Director, and Professor Bijay Kumar Das, the President of the Researchers' Association, Odisha. Dr. Sonali Das, Associate Professor of English, F.M.University, Balasore, and Dr. Dolon Ray, Faculty Member Chandidas Chetna Mahavidyalaya, Bankura University, West Bengal introduced Prof. Nagaraju and Dr. Ramesh Prasad Panigrahi respectively. Professor Bijay Kumar Das delivered the Welcome Address and Chaired the Inaugural Session. In his inaugural address, Prof. Nagaraju spoke on various kinds of myths prevalent in India. and abroad. Dr. Ramesh Prasad Panigrahi in his Keynote address spoke on Folklore and Indian Literature. Both the papers were well received. Dr. Rima Ghosh, Asst. Professor of English Swami Niswambalanda Girls' College, Hooghly (West Bengal) proposed a vote of thanks.


In Paper Reading Session I, Dr. Dolon Ray and Dr. RimaGhosh presented their papers and Dr. Sonali Das chaired the Session. Both the papers, particularly Dr. Rima Ghosh's "Mother Goddess in Formation of the Nation" evoked searching questions from the audience. In Plenary Session I, Professor Bijay Kumar Das spoke on "Theorizing Myth, Legend, and Folklore" with reference to the Making of Indian Literature. His Lecture, as usual, was distributed in the form of a Booklet. Prof Nagaraju chaired the Session. Dr. Rabi Narayan Sasmal Proposed a Vote Of Thanks.


Paper Reading Session II was chaired by Prof. Ashok Kumar Mohanty in which Dr. Braja Kishore Pall, Reader in English, Oupada College, Balasore presented a paper titled, "A Flowering Tree: An Ecocritical Approach". Dr. Premalata Rout, Principal Jagannath Higher Secondary School, Keonjhar presented a paper titled "A Note on Suffering in the Poetry of Shiv K. Kumar". Both the papers were well received. Mr. Bata Krushna Dash, Faculty Member, Chittol Mahavidyalaya, Jajpur proposed a vote of thanks. The workshop on "Writing Research papers and MPhil and Ph.D. dissertations" was conducted by Professor Bijay Kumar Das in which all the participants actively participated.

In the Valedictory Session, Dr. Satya Sindhu Ghosh, former Associate Professor of English, Khandra College, Burdwan University, (WB) spoke on the correlation between myths and legends of India. Prof. Ashok Kumar Mohanty chaired the session. Prof. N. Nagaraju gave away the participation certificate. Dr. Bilkesh Parveen, Faculty Member, Tangi Mahavidyalaya proposed a vote of thanks.

Dr. Pravat Kumar Mishra, the Rapporteur of the seminar very ably summed up all the deliberations of the day long seminar. Dr. Mishra, who is also the Treasurer of the Researchers' Association proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Sonali Das compered the program.
