“THE CRITICAL ENDEAVOUR” VOL. 27 JAN 2021

The Researchers’ Association, Odisha organised a National Webinar on the above mentioned topic on 24 January 2021 at 10:30 am with Professor Bijay Kumar Das, the president of the Association in chair. Professor C.R. Visweswar Rao, former Vice Chancellor, Vikram Shimapuri University inaugurated the webinar in the presence of Professor R.W. Desai (Delhi University), and Professor Rajnath (University of Allahbad). The convener of the webinar, Dr. Sonali Das (Associate Professor of English, Fakir Mohan University, Balasore) introduced Professor Desai, Professor Rajnath and Professor Rao to the participants. Professor Rao launched The Critical Endeavour Vol. 27 Jan 2021 and made observations on the 28 articles and 10 book reviews included in this issue. The journal runs into 470 pages and the contributors are drawn from all over India including one from Canada. Barack Obama’s memoir A Promised Land and Kissinger: A Biography have been reviewed by Professor Bijay Kumar Das. Jasbir Jain’s latest book, Interpreting Cinema: Adaptations, Intertextualities, Art Movements has been reviewed by Dr. Sonali Das. This issue of the journal is dedicated to the memory of the late Professor D.K. Ray. Professor C.R. Visweswar Rao launched Professor Bijay Kumar Das’s latest book of critcism, Ashis Nandy’s Exiled at Home: Theory and Praxis (just published by the Atlantic Publishers, New Delhi, January 2021).


Professor Rajnath in his introductory remarks spoke on “British Romantic poets and Chayavad poets”. Professor C.R. Visweswar Rao spoke on “British Romantic poets and Rabindranath Tagore”. Professor Bijay Kumar Das spoke on “Revisiting British Romantic poets and their impact on Indian poets”. Professor Mohan Ramanan (Hyderabad University), Professor Prashant K. Sinha (Pune University), Professor B. Parvathi (Andhra University), Professor Sabita Tripathy (Sambalpur University), Dr. Dolom Ray (Burdwan), Dr. Madhusmita Chanda (Kolkata), Mr. Laxmidhar Panda (Puri) and Professor Ashok Kumar Mohanty (SOA University, Bhubaneswar) took part in the discussion. Professor Prakash Ch. Pradhan (BHU), Professor Susheel K. Sharma (Allahbad University) too attended the webinar. Dr. Janan Ranjan Padhi (J.N. College, Arunachal Pradesh) proposed a vote of thanks.


In “Meet the Teacher Session”, Prof. Ashok Kumar Mohanty introduced Prof. Prabhat K. Singh (Head, Dept. of English, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya). Prof. Singh delivered his address under the caption, “My Romance with Teaching as a Profession”. Prof. Bijay Kumar Das chaired thesession. Dr. Madusmita Chanda (Kolkata) proposed a vote of thanks. 43 persons attended the webinar. In the end, Professor Bijay Kumar Das made two significant announcements:
